As one of Indonesia’s most anticipated technology events, the convention convened top-tier industry leaders, technology providers, and decision-makers to shape the future of cloud and digital infrastructure in Indonesia. To elevate its presence beyond the exhibition floor, SM+ Data Centers curated an exclusive pre-event experience on 14 May—a behind-the-scenes Site Tour to SM+ Data Centers | Jakarta – SMX01, currently under development and slated to become operational in 2H-2026. Hosted in a custom-designed immersive room, the tour transported participants into a realistic simulation of the future data center environment. More than 30 senior executives and IT leaders across various sectors participated in the session, which featured a compelling presentation by Avnish Patankar, Director & Chief Business Officer of SM+. The Jakarta – SMX01 facility represents a landmark investment in Indonesia’s digital future. Once completed, it will be the nation’s most advanced Tier-IV certified data center, offering 18 MW of initial IT capacity (scalable to 60 MW), 2,400 high-density racks, and 15,500 sqm of white space across 11 stories and 9 data halls. Equipped with the latest air-cooling technology and on-demand liquid-cooling systems, Jakarta –SMX01 is both AI-ready and certified as a green building, aligning sustainability with innovation. During the main convention, the SM+ booth attracted over 1,000 visitors eager to explore both the Jakarta – SMX01 project and SM+’s growing Edge Data Center network, which spans 24 cities across Indonesia. Designed to be “close to the user,” SM+ Edge facilities provide low-latency performance, regional network access, and direct ISP connectivity—enabling faster market entry and greater operational resilience for businesses nationwide. In his keynote address, Avnish Patankar shared a visionary message titled “Edge Data Center Infrastructure for Indonesia’s Digital Acceleration.” He emphasized the critical imbalance between rising internet penetration and the limited geographical spread of data centers. Of Indonesia’s 38 provinces, only five currently host more than three data centers, while 15 provinces have none. This disparity presents a significant opportunity: “This is the moment to grow together,” Avnish stated. “To build an Indonesia that is fully connected, with fast, reliable access and true digital transformation.” SM+ Data Centers’ presence at the convention reflected more than participation—it was a bold declaration of intent. With its dual strategy of developing world-class hyperscale facilities like Jakarta – SMX01 and deploying a nationwide Edge network, SM+ is set to redefine Indonesia’s digital infrastructure and help unlock the nation’s full digital potential.
